Ainara Basco 〰️

Ainara Basco is a Filipina visual artist, specialising in storytelling through painting and writing. Her narrative driven works are inspired by Filipino Spirituality, Jungian psychology, and the cycles of womanhood. She traverses in between the fantastical realm and her own memories through personal archives, weaving together photographs, VHS recordings, and symbolic motifs. The artist believes that the pursuit for craftsmanship creates self-agency, her art practice allowing for healing and discipline, and at the same time a reconnection to our ancestral wisdom - a necessary journey for children of the diaspora.

In collaboration with Kūbō Garden, highlighting ESEA artists.

RE—US London is bringing art to life in everyday spaces.

Our mission is simple: spotlight London-based creatives and provide a platform for their stories to be told.

This isn’t just an exhibition, it’s an intimate look at the creative journey.

Ainara’s original pieces are available to view & can be purchase via the online store.

A Heroine's Journey: Rebirth
£2,222.00

꩜ “A Heroine’s Journey: Rebirth,” is part of a series exploring the necessary inner death and rebirth cycles in our lives which guide us to explore, grieve, learn, create, and to return home.

꩜ This one of only painting depicts the heroine rising above the water once again, fighting onwards for the life she chooses. This powerful part in our journeys celebrates new beginnings, renewed clarity, doors of opportunies opening, bravery, releasing what is no longer ours to carry, and a reminder to offer back our gratitude to the ancestors (symbolised through palay or rice husks on her boat.)

A Heroine's Journey: Inner Child
£2,222.00

꩜ “A Heroine’s Journey: Inner Child,” is part of a series exploring the necessary inner death and rebirth cycles in our lives which guide us to explore, grieve, learn, create, and to return home.

꩜ This one of only painting depicts a child resting, who is somewhere in between dreams and reality made small by the world but continues to sow the seeds to enrich their inner world/garden. The butterfly symbolises this metamorphosis, magic, and transience of growing up and finding oneself.
